Kitscoty

Kitscoty is located at the junction of Highways 16 and 897, within 20 minutes of the City of Lloydminster. With close access to major transportation corridors and the region`s economic hub (Lloydminster), Kitscoty is strategically positioned to accommodate population growth and development.

Objectives/Tasks:

1. Growth analysis for the next 30 years to consider future servicing capacity, population and employment forecasts.

2. Servicing analysis to assess capacity to service the future development of a pre-existing development concept.

3. Preparation of a new Municipal Development Plan to guide future development decisions in the Village.

4. Review and update to the Village’s existing Land Use Bylaw.

Community engagement will be critical to the successful completion of these tasks. Throughout the process, the Village will be holding information and engagement sessions for members of the community to aid in the completion of the concept plan, Municipal Development Plan and Land Use Bylaw.

Culture and Community

The foundations for quality of life are often found in the way communities celebrate culture and embrace new members in their community. What makes Kitscoty a great place to live? How can Kitscoty’s sense of community be strengthened?

Ideas

it is fairly close to amenities and medical facilities and a real small town atmosphere. to strengthen the community there needs to be social interaction without a lot of cost. right now if you are into community theaters and suppers there is social life but if those don't interest you or the expense of it is too much there is nothing and that is only a few times a year. An outside pool, a place to skate outside and simple cheap activities that everyone can partake without having to dish out a lot of money would get people together. there is absolutely nothing here especially for the younger ones that don't drive. no place for them to hang out even a skate park or bicycle track would be nice. I am sure most parents would take part in maintenance as long as it isn't fixed. everyone isn't always available.

Servicing and Infrastructure

Servicing and Infrastructure limitations can severely impact a community’s ability to grow. The high cost of servicing is sometimes viewed as a risk when the costs are paid for before development occurs. Are there current issues with the village’s infrastructure and servicing networks (water, sanitary, drainage)? Are there opportunities for improving these networks?

Ideas

there should be bathrooms. its a long way and no place to go. as should the playground. when there is no school where do the children go its a long way home for some.
